class="dd">12</span><span>JUN</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>GJF met with <strong>BIS DDG Dr.(Mrs.) Sneh Bhatla</strong> on 12 June, 2015 in New Delhi. The meeting was well attended by GJF delegates comprising of Mr. Vijay Khanna, Mr. D D Karel, COA member & ED to discuss all the points concerning the industry. The meeting was very positive and the DDG stated that most of the industry’s concerns were already addressed in the revised jewellers’ policy, which was to be approved by the BIS Executive committee on June 19th. The delegation also discussed the UID which she said had several changes in its features and would be taken up later by Jt. Committee to be set up with involvement of all stakeholders. Traceability with regard to jewelers & AHCs she mentioned was a concern for BIS and a separate meeting would be set up to discuss the same. Discussions on certification of refineries and cancellation of licenses were also held. The DDG mentioned that the cancellation of licenses had been diluted in the revised policy put up for approval but it may be noted that refusal to provide information on HM jewellery to BIS will lead to cancellation of license. A Jt. Meeting of all stakeholders to resolve any important pending issues and fixing of roles and responsibilities would be called by BIS in view of the interests of jewellers, AHCs and consumers going forward.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">11</span><span>JUN</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>The gem and jewellery industry raised Rs. 1.23 crores for the <strong>Nepal Earthquake</strong> victims. The funds raised were handed over to Mr. Amit Shah, BJP President. The meeting was attended by Mr. Manish Jain, Chairman-GJF, Mr. Vijay Khanna, GJF Zonal Chairman, North, Mr. D D Karel, COA Member-GJF & Mr. Bharatbhai Zaveri.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">29</span><span>MAY</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>A round table meeting was held with <strong>Shri.A K Tyagi</strong>, Additional Secretary (I), Ministry of Finance to discuss the Gold Monetization Scheme, along with FICCI & other stake holders.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">29</span><span>MAY</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>A round table meeting was held with <strong>Dr. Subhash Garg</strong>, Jt. Secretary (I&C), Ministry of Finance to discuss the Gold Monetization Scheme, along with FICCI & other stake holders.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">14</span><span>MAY</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>The GJF Delegation headed by Chairman, Mr. Manish Jain along with few directors accompanied by Shri. Ishwarlal Jain, MP, met <strong>Shri. Nitin Gadkari</strong>, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India. Shri. Gadkariji has been a supporter of the industry and in the past has been very helpful when the industry faced the Excise duty issue. The delegation paid the Minister a courtesy visit and requested him to also prevail upon the FM to take a more considerate view of the industry concerns on the Pan card issue.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">14</span><span>MAY</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>GJF delegates led by Chairman-GJF, Mr. Manish Jain, along with few Board members, met <strong>Hon’ble Finance Minister</strong> with regard to Pan Card issue. The Finance Minister patiently heard out the various issues faced by the industry. The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, wherein the Hon’ble Finance Minister spent almost 20 minutes with the GJF delegates. The outcome of the meeting was quite encouraging and positive. A positive response with regard to Pan Card limit may be expected.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">9</span><span>APR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>Mr. Manish Jain, Chairman-GJF along with M. Srinivasan, Mr. Sreedhar, and ED had a meeting with the <strong>Addl D.G. – CISF</strong> on 9th April’ 2015 on the issues faced by jewelers during transit. The ADG gave GJF a very patient hearing and was convinced of the gravity of the issues jewelers face at the airports. He immediately directed his office to issue a circular stating that; a. Jewellery parcels may only be checked in a) secure/ closed area in the presence of 2 officers; b) CISF personnel will not share information with any other stakeholder if the documents are proper. The circular was to be sent to airports across the country with a copy to GJF. He also said that after 3 months, the issue will be reviewed again and subsequent actions will be taken if the problem persists.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">18</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>A meeting was conducted with Shri. RK Yadav, Commissioner-Investigation, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) with regard to follow up on JID Card and documents required for implementation and smoother transit process for the gem and jewellery parcels.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">18</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>A meetingwas held under the leadership of the respected Shri. Ishwarlal Jain, MP, Rajya Sabha, with the <strong>Hon’ble Minister, MSME, Shri. Kalraj Mishra</strong> and GJF represented by Shri. Manish Jain, Chairman Elect, Shri. Ashok Minawala, Ex-Chairman, GJF, Shri. GV Sreedhar, Director, GJF and Shri. Sribash Dasmohapatra, Executive Director, GJF wherein the objective of the meeting was problems faced by members during the transit of gem and jewellery parcels. A detailed discussion was held and GJF members sought the Hon’ble Minister’s assistance in bringing matters to the attention of other relevant ministries and recommend recognition and acceptance of the JID card.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">18</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>A meeting was held under the leadership of the respected Shri. Ishwarlal Jain, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, with <strong>Hon’ble Minister for Commerce & Industry, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman</strong> and GJF represented by Shri. Manish Jain, Chairman Elect, Shri. Ashok Minawala, Ex-Chairman, GJF, Shri. GV Sreedhar, Director, GJF and Shri. Sribash Dasmohapatra, Executive Director, GJF.</p> <p>The Hon’ble Minister cordially received the GJF delegation and spent over 30 minutes discussing various industry related matters as well as the need to form a National Council for the industry. She expressed that the representation given by GJF has been well received and will be looked into. She further mentioned that the Pan Card mandate could be of genuine concern for the gem and jewellery industry and stated that the Finance Ministry could look into the same sympathetically.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">18</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>A meeting was held under the leadership of respective Shri. Ishwalal Jain, MP, Rajya Sabha, with the <strong>Chairperson, Smt. Anita Kapur</strong>, along with GJF representatives comprising of Mr. Manish Jain, Chairman Elect-GJF, Mr. Ashok Minawala, Ex-Chairman, GJF, Mr. GV Sreedhar, Director, GJF and Mr. Sribash Dasmohapatra, Executive Director to discuss the Jewellers Identification Card (JID). The Chairperson, CBDT, directed her department to review the current set of standard documents required to be carried in order to ensure the authenticity of the carrier and the parcels. She also expressed that her department would look into the required documents with the end objective of avoiding harassment of carriers and ensuring a smoother transit of goods.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">18</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>A meeting was held under the leadership of the respected Shri. Ashok Minawala, Ex-Chairman, GJF, Shri. GV Sreedhar, Director, GJF and Shri. Sribash Dasmohapatra, Executive Director, GJF.The meeting was held with the objective of discussing matters pertaining to the Jewellers Identification Card (JID), procedures followed by CISF and the various issues that impact the movement and transit of gem and jewellery goods across the country.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">18</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>GJF delegates comprising of Mr. Manish Jain, Chairman Elect - GJF, Mr. Ashok Minawala, Ex-Chairman, GJF, Mr. GV Sreedhar, Director, GJF and Mr. Sribash Dasmohapatra, Executive Director, GJF met <strong>Shri. Arvind Ranjan, IPS, DG, CISF</strong>. The meeting was held with regard toacceptance of Jewellers Identification Card (JID) and the various issues that impact the movement and transit of gem and jewellery goods across the country.</p> <p>During the meeting, GJF members explained to DG, CISF the various practices followed by the CISF in the present which included grave matters such as opening of parcels in open public domain and sharing information regarding the same with other stakeholders in various Government departments, which have been causing serious problems for the carriers of these parcels.Accordingly, the DG – CISF asked his department to share details of the current practices followed by CISF personnel in this regard and study the same in detail before recommending any modification or changes.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">16</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>GJF on behalf of the industry, organized Press Conferences simultaneously across 12different cities in India i.e. Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Raipur, Nagpur, Kanpur, Pune, Hyderabad to protest against the imposition of Pan card on jewellery sales over Rs 1 lac.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">9</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>GJF represented by Vice Chairman & ED met <strong>Addl. Secretary – Investments</strong> in New Delhi to discuss to discuss the Implementation on Mechanism of the Budget 2015-16 Announcement on Gold Monetization Scheme. </p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">3 - 6</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>Jewellery Delegation to Hongkong was scheduled from 03rd to 6th March 2015. A key objectives of the mission was to expose its members to the best worldwide technologies, services, design and product-sourcing options. In order to achieve this objective, GJF also coordinated an Indian Jewellery Retailers’ Business Delegation to the Hong Kong Jewellery Show held between 3 – 6 March, 2015.</p> <p>The Hong Kong show, among the world’s largest three trade’s shows, brings together the very best industry professionals globally. One will find the widest variety of loose diamonds, colored gemstones, finished jewellery along with findings and other products and services. For the Indian jewellery retailers, the Hong Kong show is “must-attend” item.</p> <p>In order to facilitate the travel and attendance for the jewellers, GJF teamed up with GEMKonnect to put together an official delegation to attend the show.</p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">3</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>GJF delegates met <strong>Ms. Rupa Dutta</strong>, Economic Adviser, Ministry of Commerce,to discuss and follow up on the Council formation status. GJF was informed that the file had been forwarded to the Commerce Secretary for further action. Delegates discussed the intricacies of the process, GJF’s preparedness to take on the role in terms of its Articles structure, membership etc. GJF also discussed initiatives undertaken for betterment of the trade, skill development programmes, etc. </p> </div>  <div class="activity_box"> <div class="date_div"><span class="dd">2</span><span>MAR</span><span>2015</span></div> <p>GJF delegates met <strong>Mr. Siddharth</strong>, DG (S&D) to discuss various matters pertaining to the formation of a Council for the Domestic industry. GJF briefed him of its active engagement with the Ministry of Commerce in providing various trade related information to the Department of Commerce as well as DIPP. The delegates also apprised the DG of Department of Commerce’s recommendation for formation of National Domestic Gem & Jewellery Council to address the needs of the domestic trade as well as to provide the Govt. with reliable data and information during the Make in India workshop held in December 2014.
