Relief Fund</h1> <p><strong>Dear G&J Industry Colleagues,</strong></p> <p>As you are already aware of the Global Impact the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is having, given the magnitude and the extent of its spread, the WHO has declared it a Pandemic and globally governments are working with full force to control its impact. The impact has already been huge on our economy and particularly the Gems and Jewellery sector.</p> <p>Government of India supported by the State Governments and local authorities had declared a lock down till 14th April 2020 which is further extended until 3rd May to fight the spread of the virus. Considering the gravity of the public health and economic situation, we are requesting you to kindly pledge your financial contribution through GJC towards its efforts to extend support to its Karigars from the Gems and Jewellery sector.</p> <p>GJC believes that protecting and taking care of our industry members, our karigars, affected persons is of paramount importance as they are the backbone of our trade. It’s been weeks since the lockdown was announced and many of our valued Karigars / artisans are stranded in their shelters and fighting every day for basic survival without much help. Hence, GJC has already started transferring sum of Rs.1500/- in the individual bank account of every Karigar. So far, we have identified more than 20,000 such Karigar account details and we are in the process of segregating details of the most needy Karigars following which we are transferring money in those accounts.</p> <p>We urge that the entire gems and jewellery industry, each & every member to come together and help and extend support to our workforce. Your graciousness and generosity will go a long way in shaping the future of the 5,000+ year old legacy of the gems & jewellery sector in our glorious country. Above all, lakhs of workers in the gem & jewellery sector will be grateful and will remain indebted to you for your support.
